Ford Maintenance Guide - When to Service Your Ford
Follow Our Ford Maintenance Guide to Keep Your Ford at its Best
The right auto service from Ford dealerships like ours serving those in Alexandria, Arlington and the Washington, DC area is important. At Ourisman Ford of Alexandria, we are committed to helping you stay on top of your maintenance and have some guidelines for how to best keep your Ford on the road.
Important Service Milestones
You should always consult the owner's guide of your Ford for exact times on when to come in and get auto service, especially at big mileage intervals. For the rest like oil changes, tire rotations, alignments, brake checks and more, this is going to depend on your driving habits and the mileage you put on your vehicle. Here are some markets we think you should be aware of:
Every 7,500 Miles
When you visit our dealership near Mount Vernon and take home your favorite new Ford, you can drive around for a long time before needing to worry about routine maintenance. But once your odometer hits 7,500 miles, it's time to head over to our service center to have some things checked out.
The main thing you should schedule every 7,500 miles or six months is an oil change, an important procedure that should be done regularly. After this trip to our service center, make sure you continue to schedule an oil change every 7,500 miles or six months (whichever happens first) to ensure the longest engine life and the best performance possible.
Also, we recommend getting a tire rotation and checking to see if your Ford needs a wheel alignment at this interval. By doing these procedures, you can get the most mileage out of your tires as possible.
Every 10,000 Miles
At 10,000 miles, you and your Ford have probably gone on lots of adventures in the Clinton area. Once you reach this mileage, however, you need to come into our service center near Fort Washington for your first big check-up.
To get the most comprehensive check possible for your Ford, we recommend getting a multi-point inspection at our service center. When you do so, we'll check many areas of your Ford, including the battery life, fluid levels, tire wear and tread depth, brake pads thickness, and more.
In addition to your Ford's multi-point inspection, we also recommend an inspection of the cooling system, exhaust system, heat shields, parking brake, system, ball joints, suspension joints, u-joints, brake pads, and brake rotors.
Every 20,000 Miles
Once your Ford reaches 20,000 miles, it's likely time for you to replace the cabin air filter. By doing this, you can keep your vehicle's cabin free from harmful pollutants as you drive.
Every 30,000 Miles
After every 30,000 miles, your Ford needs to have its engine air filter replaced. The engine air filter works to prevent debris and harmful pollutants from damaging the engine as you drive around Oxon Hill.
Every 100,000 Miles
Once your Ford has reached six-digit mileage, you can continue driving around Washington DC with a smile on your face knowing that you kept it going all these years. Once your Ford hits 100,000 miles, you can keep it going for even longer by replacing the spark plugs and replacing any accessory drive belts that are worn or damaged.
Every 150,000 Miles
At 150,000 miles, your Ford has been your trusted sidekick for many years, helping you build lasting memories as you drive around Alexandria. To keep your Ford going for even longer, you can head over to our service center near Washington DC to replace your timing belt, change out the front and rear axle lubricant, change the automatic transmission fluid and filter, and change the transfer case fluid.
